Bangkok's new BTS Surasak skywalk opens 121 days ahead of schedule

Bangkok's newest pedestrian skywalk opened early on Wednesday morning. The 110-metre structure links BTS Surasak Station to Bangkok Christian College, offering commuters a faster and safer route. Officials hope it will ease traffic jams on North Sathorn Road, especially during peak hours. Construction of the BTS Surasak-Bangkok Christian Skywalk finished 121 days ahead of schedule. Originally set for completion on February 1, 2026, the project wrapped up on July 23, 2025. The elevated walkway officially opened at 7 AM the same day.

The skywalk aims to boost public transport use by providing a direct connection between the BTS station and the busy college crossing. Pedestrians can now avoid street-level congestion, improving transit efficiency in the area. While no further skywalks are currently announced, two major projects remain in progress. The Victory Monument Skywalk is under construction and expected to finish by late 2026. Meanwhile, the One Bangkok development will include elevated walkways, with partial openings in 2026 and full completion around 2030–2031.

The new skywalk is now in use, offering a quicker and safer option for daily commuters. Its early completion and strategic location should help reduce morning traffic on North Sathorn Road. For now, no additional pedestrian bridges are planned beyond the two ongoing projects.
