Bally's Marquette transforms Iowa's gaming scene with £21M landside casino debut

A new gaming and entertainment venue has officially opened in northeastern Iowa. Bally's Marquette welcomed its first guests today after a major transformation. The £21 million project replaces the old riverboat casino with a modern, landside destination.

The site was once home to the Casino Queen Marquette, a traditional riverboat casino. After decades on the water, the venue has now moved ashore, becoming Bally's Marquette. The two-level building features a covered entrance for easy access from the car park.

Inside, visitors will find over 400 slot machines, live table games, and a sportsbook with self-service kiosks. The gaming floor is paired with four dining options: the 1994 Sports Bar, Sidecar Bar, Benchfront Coffee, and Riverside Grill. The design keeps the riverfront atmosphere while offering a fresh, contemporary feel.

The shift from riverboat to landside has also boosted local employment. Nearly 80 new jobs have been created, giving the area an economic lift. This change marks the end of Iowa's classic riverboat casinos, as the industry moves toward modern, land-based facilities.

Bally's Marquette combines gaming, dining, and entertainment in a single location. The venue's opening brings new opportunities for visitors and the community alike. With expanded amenities and a focus on the guest experience, it sets a new standard for Iowa's gaming scene.
