Balingen hosts inaugural Christopher Street Day celebration
First Christopher Street Day (CSD) Event Held Successfully in Balingen
The town of Balingen, located in the Zollernalb district, made history recently by hosting its first ever Christopher Street Day (CSD) event. The event, which aimed to promote the visibility of the queer community, attracted around 400 participants who marched peacefully through the city.
The CSD event in Balingen was a collaborative effort, with various organisations and groups lending their support. The "immerwaslos" association in Balingen, founded in 1997, and the Jusos Zollernalb were among the groups that participated. The "Balingen against the right" friendship circle also provided support at the station, offering music and speeches to boost the event's spirit.
The event featured a stage program and a demonstration march, which took place on the market square. The organisers utilised various online platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, messaging service X, and email, to spread the word and garner support for the event.
The CSD event in Balingen marked a significant milestone for the town, as it was the first of its kind to take place in the area. The event was met with positive responses, and it is hoped that it will become a regular fixture in Balingen's calendar of events.
Despite the event not specifying a particular date, it was a day of celebration and unity for the queer community in Balingen and the surrounding areas. The event served as a reminder that everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves to be seen and heard.
