Michael Kessler to Receive Honorary Prize at Hessian Film and Cinema Award
Actor Michael Kessler, renowned for his roles in "Manta, Manta" and "LOL - Last One Laughing," will be honoured with the honorary prize of the Minister President at this year's Hessian Film and Cinema Award. The prestigious event is set to take place in Frankfurt am Main on October 17, with the Film Award gala unfolding at the Alte Oper.
In addition to Kessler's recognition, the Hessian Broadcasting Corporation (hr) will present two awards at the gala. Lisa Wagner, Nils Strunk, and Justus von Dohnányi will receive the Actor/Actress Award for their work in the ZDF series "The Cum-Ex Affair." Actress Mala Emde, known for her roles in "My Daughter Anne Frank" and "Cologne 75," will receive the newcomer prize.
The ensemble of the ARD miniseries "Dark Side" will also be awarded the ensemble prize. The feature film category includes "September 5," "Bitter Gold" by Juan Olea, "Hysteria" by Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay, and other unspecified films. The Frankfurt Book Fair, coinciding with the award ceremony, will present its own award, the undotted prize for the best literary adaptation, to the film adaptation of the bestselling novel "22 Lanes" by director Mia Maariel Meyer.
A total of 39,500 euros will be awarded to 11 non-commercial cinemas as part of the cinema prize, while a total of 170,500 euros will be awarded to 19 commercial cinemas.
The QMS Respect Award, a newly introduced annual honour that recognises a person or group who has made a special contribution to queer visibility in the film industry, will be presented at the Film Award gala.
