Automaker GWM has electrified its H6 SUV for the New Zealand market, incorporating a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
General Motors-Wuling (GWM) has expanded its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) offering by introducing the technology to the mainstream H6 SUV. Until now, PHEV technology was exclusive to the high-performance coupe-style H6 GT.
The PHEV powertrain is available on the top Ultra specification of the H6 SUV. Both Ultra PHEV models of the H6 SUV use a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with dual electric motors.
Fast Charging and Long Electric Range
Both PHEV variants of the H6 SUV are capable of fast DC charging from 30-80% in under 30 minutes. The PHEV variants of the H6 SUV have a pure electric range of 106km (2WD) and 100km (AWD), according to the NEDC test regime.
Advanced Features
The Ultra PHEV models of the H6 SUV come equipped with a host of advanced features. They feature a 14.6-inch touchscreen with wireless phone projection, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround view camera with transparent chassis display, and heated and ventilated front seats.
Performance and Pricing
The AWD PHEV model of the H6 SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. It costs $53,990, while the 2WD PHEV version, which is a $5000 premium over the standard non-plug-in hybrid, retails for $50,990.
Warranty and Roadside Assistance
The PHEV range of the H6 SUV is backed by GWM Care, which includes an 8-year unlimited kilometre battery warranty, a 7-year unlimited kilometre vehicle warranty, and 5-year roadside assistance.
With the introduction of the PHEV powertrain, GWM aims to provide a more environmentally friendly and technologically advanced option to its customers in the mainstream SUV segment. The H6 SUV PHEV models do not offer the same level of power as the H6 GT, but they provide a balance between performance, efficiency, and advanced features.
