Auto Accident in Hattingen: Vehicle Hits Guidepost, Driver Remains Unharmed but Intoxicated
A 47-year-old man from Sprockhövel found himself in a troubling situation on July 27, 2025, after an alleged drunk driving incident in the Wodantal area of Hattingen.
According to information transmitted by the Ennepe-Ruhr District Police Headquarters, the incident occurred around 5 PM. The man was driving a brown Subaru at the time, and he collided with the guardrail on the left side of the road due to a brief blackout.
Investigators suspected the driver might have been under the influence of alcohol, and a voluntary breathalyzer test was offered to the man. The result showed an approximate blood alcohol content (BAC) of 1.6%.
Following the test, the man was taken to the Hattingen police station for a blood alcohol test. As a result of the incident, his driver's license was confiscated.
