Authorities obtained the contents from a rooftop storage box.
In an unusual incident on Tuesday evening, a driver from the Lahn-Dill district lost the contents of his roof box on Autobahn 45 near Langenselbold.
At around 7:30 PM, the 59-year-old driver was unable to secure his belongings, which included clothing and other personal items, resulting in a scattering of items across approximately 100 meters on two lanes of the highway.
Part of the roof box also blew onto the opposite lane towards Giessen, posing a hazard to traffic. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
A patrol from the South-East Hesse Highway Police station was dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the patrol first removed the remaining plastic covering and then assisted in collecting the luggage.
The driver, who could not fit the contents back into his vehicle, had to call his son for assistance. The incident caused temporary closures of two lanes in the direction of Aschaffenburg and one lane in the direction of Giessen.
