Performance-enhancing substances abuse - Authorities conducted a raid on suspected doping traders.

On Tuesday, three men were detained in Hesse during an attempt to apprehend dealers of prohibited performance-enhancing substances across multiple federal states. Authorities in Frankfurt and Baden-Württemberg, as well as Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Berlin, executed search warrants at various locations, including homes.

The investigators seized more than 10,000 ampoules, 10,000 tablets, and 1,200 syringes with doping agents. Additionally, they confiscated approximately 150,000 euros in currency. The estimated worth of the retrieved performance-enhancing substances is around 60,000 euros. The authorities also discovered two firearms, ammunition, and a kilogram of black powder.

The operation began after customs intercepted a package originating from Spain that contained performance-enhancing substances in 2022. Further evidence was discovered at the intended recipient's residence. Warrants were issued for the arrest of three men aged 27, 36, and 38. They are under investigation for unlawfully distributing performance-enhancing drugs in significant quantities. They were scheduled to appear before a judge on Tuesday.

The police conducted raids in several cities, including Frankfurt, Dreieich, Langen, Pforzheim, Constance, Rheinstetten, Karlsruhe (Baden-Württemberg), Monheim am Rhein, Warburg (NRW), Stade (Lower Saxony), Bad-Kreuznach (Rhineland-Palatinate), Günzburg, and Eichstätt (Bavaria), as well as in Berlin.
