Breaking News: Vandalism Spree in Elmshorn

Overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday (06.08.2025), a series of vandalism incidents occurred in the city area of Elmshorn. A total of 17 incidents were reported, involving spray paint and demolitions.

The affected areas stretch from Heidmühlenweg north to Timm-Kröger-Straße, where 13 parked cars were sprayed with paint. Two bus stops in Heidmühlenweg and Morthorststraße had their glass panes destroyed, and a glass element at the entrance of the primary school in Mommsenstraße was damaged.

The incidents took place between Tuesday evening around 20:00 and Wednesday morning around 05:00. The total property damage and the costs for cleaning the sprayed objects have not been finalized, but they are expected to be in the high four-digit range.

The police are investigating the incidents and are seeking information from witnesses. They are particularly interested in any observations of individuals or groups handling spray paint or destroying glass panes in the mentioned areas at night. The police are also interested in narrowing down the time of the acts, or in any other cases of property damage that occurred that night and are not yet known to them.

For inquiries, witnesses can contact the Press Office of the Police Directorate Bad Segeberg at Dorfstr. 16-18, 2395 Bad Segeberg, or call 04121-803-0. The contact person is Jens Zeidler, telephone: 04551-884-2020, email: [email protected].

It is worth noting that the police in Elmshorn have used helicopters with thermal imaging since 2004 to detect illegal graffiti activity during night hours, implying surveillance measures to identify such acts. No direct eyewitness accounts or new cases remain unreported according to the provided results.

As of now, all 17 incidents were committed by unknown persons. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring those responsible to justice.
