Authorities are examining the assault on a law enforcement officer at an informational kiosk.
In the heart of Güstrow, a disturbing incident unfolded at the Borwinbrunnen on the final day of an unspecified event. The political party DIE LINKE operated an information booth at the location, and it was here that the incident took place.
According to a report from the Police Headquarters Rostock, transmitted via news aktuell, a male person verbally attacked and insulted those present at the information booth, and even made anti-constitutional gestures. The state parliamentarian Michael Noetzel was present at the booth during the altercation.
The male person's actions did not stop at verbal abuse. He is alleged to have physically attacked Mr. Noetzel, biting him in the ribs, and causing him pain and shortness of breath. The suspect also kicked a parked bicycle, which was tied to the dog of the state parliamentarian.
The police were swift to respond, locating and controlling the suspect around 12:10 PM. The identified suspect is a 23-year-old German who has previously come to police attention. He resides in Güstrow and admitted to being under the influence of intoxicating substances to the deployed police officers.
The suspect left the market with two male and one female companion in an unknown direction. The criminal investigation department took over the 23-year-old at the police station for further proceedings. Medical treatment on site was not necessary for Mr. Noetzel.
