Speeding Epidemic in Kreis Borken: Police Crackdown Yields Significant Results
Excessive speed and reckless driving remain a significant concern in Kreis Borken, Germany, as revealed by the Kreis Police Department Borken's latest traffic measurements. In the past few days, the department recorded the speed of 7345 vehicles at 16 locations across the district.
The data showed that around 15 percent of these vehicles exceeded the permitted maximum speed. This reckless behaviour led to 11 driving bans, 241 administrative offence proceedings, and 825 warning fines.
Particularly serious excess speeds were recorded at three locations: North district - inner city with 69 km/h on Vennstraße in Gronau-Epe, South district - inner city with 99 km/h in Bocholt-Hemden on Hamalandstraße, and outside built-up area with 111 km/h in Isselburg on the L606.
The traffic service team had set up a speed trap at the scene in Isselburg, where a car was traveling at an alarming 123 km/h, exceeding the maximum permitted speed of 70 km/h.
Chief Inspector Heike Kormann, the person responsible for public relations at the Kreis Polizei Borken, emphasised the importance of adhering to speed limits to ensure road safety. She encouraged drivers to be mindful of their speed and the potential consequences of reckless driving.
