Hannover Police Crack Down on Drug Crime and Theft
In a series of targeted controls conducted on September 4, 2025, the Hannover police took decisive action against open drug crime and suspected theft in the city.
The day began with a discovery at 14:45, as a 53-year-old was observed in the area of a rehabilitation facility on Fernroder Straße. A search revealed 5.5 grams of cocaine, 7.5 grams of heroin, and 135 euros of suspected deal money.
Later, at 15:20, two suspected drug dealers were arrested in the same area. A forged insurance card and suspected deal money totaling 410 euros were found on one of the suspects. Several drug deals were observed, leading to the initiation of criminal proceedings.
Suspicion arose that a 38-year-old man, found suspiciously hiding behind a car on Fernroder Straße, was committing thefts professionally. A search revealed tools used for vehicle break-ins and theft, as well as a high-value wristwatch. It was also discovered that the man was illegally staying in Germany, and detention was requested due to the lack of a fixed abode. Furthermore, it was found that the man was using a fake driver's license and had been operating under different identities.
A scuffle ensued when the man allegedly grabbed a police officer's arm to snatch the seized phone the officer was holding. However, no one was injured during the incident, and simple physical force was used to end the altercation.
Elsewhere in the city, a 35-year-old woman was found in the Raschplatz area, despite an existing dispersal order. Dispersal orders were also issued during the controls.
Tragically, there is no information available regarding a 25-year-old suspected drug dealer who died in police custody on the evening of September 4, 2025.
A 17-year-old was found in the Steintor district, also in violation of a dispersal order.
The police have been conducting these targeted controls in the inner city of Hannover to combat open drug crime and maintain public safety. No intoxicating substances were found during a visible search for drug hiding places in the area of Andreaestraße.
Despite these efforts, the Hannover police continue to remain vigilant in their mission to keep the city safe.
