Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre's CEO, Matt Salier, Resigns from His Position
Matt Salier Steps Down as CEO of Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre
Matt Salier, the current CEO of the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre (AuCC), has announced his resignation, effective immediately. Over the past few years, Salier has been instrumental in shaping the Centre and establishing a strong foundation for its future.
During his tenure, Salier led the Centre through significant achievements. He was at the helm when Australia participated in the global cyber sentiment survey, Oh Behave, and the nation's team took part in the NATO Locked Shields exercise for three consecutive years. Salier also played a crucial role in building a community of practitioners in the cyber industry, fostering a network that continues to grow.
One of Salier's most notable contributions was the development of the Australian Insider Risk Centre of Excellence, which improved training and research offerings. He also reinforced core programs for small businesses, ensuring they received the support they needed to navigate the complex cyber landscape.
Salier's efforts extended beyond the Centre's walls. He was instrumental in building out a national capture flag competition, Cyber Battle, now in its second year. This competition, designed to encourage cybersecurity skills development, has become a cornerstone of the Centre's mission.
However, Salier expressed concern about the high rate of burnout in the cyber industry and the personal and professional toll his role at the Centre had taken on him. In a heartfelt statement, he expressed that leading a membership organization in the critical cyber industry had been an honor.
The Board of the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre thanks Matt Salier for his efforts and wishes him well in his future endeavors. They highlighted his far-reaching impact on the organization and the industry as a whole.
As Salier steps down, the Centre is left with a clear structure and foundation upon which the next CEO can build. The identity of his successor has not been announced at this time.
In the meantime, the Centre will continue to uphold its mission of fostering a secure and resilient digital Australia. Salier's legacy will continue to inspire and guide the Centre as it moves forward.
