Australian Communications and Media Authority Cracks Down on Five Unlawful Web Platforms Within Territory

In the digital age, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) continues to be a watchdog, ensuring the online environment remains safe and compliant with local laws. On March 1, 2023, the authority identified five more websites as illegal gambling platforms and had them blocked.

These five websites - SlotLounge, Betzillo, FastSpin99, Spinit, and PokiesPros - have been named for breaching Australia's gambling laws. However, the last five authorities' identities remain undisclosed in publicly available sources.

ACMA's commitment to this cause is unwavering. Since the measure to block illegal gambling websites was introduced in November 2019, a total of 1,322 gambling websites, affiliates, and suppliers have been added to the blocking list.

The authority's efforts are centred around monitoring compliance with the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. ACMA targets individual websites offering sports gaming and iGaming products to local customers without a license.

The process of reviewing complaints and issuing blocks has been slow for ACMA, but the organisation remains persistent. Consumers are urged to file a complaint if they suspect a gambling website is not legal, helping the regulator in its mission to maintain a fair and secure online gambling environment.

ACMA reminds consumers to stay vigilant about the gambling websites they use. With the rapid growth of online gambling, it's essential to ensure that the platforms are legitimate and comply with local laws.

Despite the challenges, ACMA continues to push against the illegal gambling sector, demonstrating a firm stance on the matter. It seems Australia does not seem likely to change its attitude towards online casinos anytime soon, with the focus remaining on maintaining a safe and fair online gambling environment for its citizens.
