Augsburg's Fellhauer discharged from hospital following head injury in match against Bayern
Augsburg's Fellhauer Suffers Concussion in Controversial Encounter Against Bayern
In a tense match between Augsburg and Bayern Munich, a collision between Sacha Boey and Florian Fellhauer during the pursuit of a stoppage-time equaliser caused a significant stir.
The incident occurred as both players contested a high ball, resulting in Fellhauer falling to the turf and laying motionless. Boey was shown a yellow card for the foul, which led to a penalty converted by Harry Kane in the 16th minute, but Boey himself did not score in the game.
Augsburg coach Sandro Wagner rushed onto the pitch to berate the officials and Bayern players, particularly Boey, for his brutal challenge. Wagner criticized Boey for not immediately apologising after the foul. However, according to Bayern's captain, Vincent Kompany, Boey did apologise to Fellhauer when prompted by teammate Joshua Kimmich.
In a statement, Augsburg revealed that Fellhauer has a severe concussion and minor facial fractures. The nature of the collision halted Augsburg's attack, and Fellhauer was carried off the pitch. The statement did not reveal the length of Fellhauer's absence from the game.
Prior to the incident, Bayern had been dominating the match, with a 3-0 lead at one point. However, Augsburg managed to claw their way back, eventually losing the match 3-2.
