Audi's Q3 Sportback refresh takes on BMW X2 with bold styling and tech

Audi has updated its Q3 Sportback, a coupe-style SUV that now stands out with sharper styling and fresh technology. The model competes closely with the BMW X2, offering similar features but with a few key differences in design and practicality. Both vehicles provide a mix of powertrains and modern conveniences.

The new Q3 Sportback sits 1.1 inches (29 mm) lower than the standard Q3, thanks to its sloping coupe roofline. Up front, it wears a wider grille and slimmer headlights, giving it a more aggressive look than its predecessor. At the rear, split taillights create a busier appearance compared to the cleaner lines of the BMW X2.

Inside, Audi has replaced traditional stalks with an unconventional steering column control hub. The centre screen is smaller than the one in the X2, which could make menu navigation slightly trickier. Both models still share features like wireless charging, USB-C ports, and ambient lighting. Under the bonnet, the Q3 Sportback offers gas, diesel, and hybrid options, just like the X2. All-wheel drive and front-wheel drive are available on both. The most powerful version of the Audi produces 261 horsepower (195 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. In terms of size, the Q3 Sportback stretches 178 inches (4.5 metres) longβ€”1.3 inches (3.3 cm) longer than the X2. However, its trunk space is slightly smaller, at 17.2 cubic feet (488 litres), while the BMW offers 18.2 cubic feet (516 litres).

The updated Q3 Sportback brings a sportier design and a range of powertrains to rival the BMW X2. Its lower roofline and distinctive rear styling set it apart, though the smaller infotainment screen and reduced boot space may influence buyer choices. Both models continue to offer modern tech and flexible drivetrain options.
