Trial defense for Secure Detention in Solingen's confinement case - Attorney arguing for defendant in the Solingen case relating to national security matters

In the city of Düsseldorf, the trial for the terrorist attack in Solingen is nearing its conclusion. The attack, which took place in Germany in 2016, was the first in the country to which the Islamic State (IS) had claimed responsibility since the attack on the Berlin Christmas market.

The accused, Issa al Hasan, has confessed to committing the knife attack that resulted in three counts of murder and ten counts of attempted murder. The defenders, however, admire the survivors and relatives for their lack of hatred and tendency to burden, despite the unimaginable tragedy they have endured.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office has requested life imprisonment with preventive detention for al Hasan. Lawyer Daniel Sprafke, representing the accused, has stated that such an order would be intolerable. The defence attorneys are opposing the imposition of preventive detention.

A minute changed everything for al Hasan, according to his defender. It remains unclear what drove him to pay homage to evil. A psychiatrist has certified al Hasan with an intelligence quotient of 71, which is considered below average.

The accused has denied harbouring hatred against Germans. However, al Hasan's actions crossed unacceptable boundaries, according to his defender. A satisfactory explanation of the attack and its background has not been achieved, leaving many questions unanswered.

The survivors and relatives of the attack were disappointed in their hope for reconciliation and healing. The verdict for the Solingen attack trial is to be pronounced this Wednesday. The city of Solingen and the nation as a whole eagerly await the resolution of this harrowing case.
