Atlas Games Unveils The Tide of Years—A D20 Adventure Beneath Time Itself

Atlas Games has released The Tide of Years, the latest addition to its Penumbra series of D20 supplements. The adventure expands the line's reputation for innovation, offering richer content and higher production values than many competitors. Players are drawn into a quest beneath a lake, where a lost empire and a powerful artefact await.

The Tide of Years sends adventurers on a journey guided by the ghost of Jonar. Their mission is to recover a temporal shard, unlocking the sunken city of Lagueen and its Temple of Ras'Tan. Inside, they face temporal traps and monstrous guardians before reaching the Temporal Crystal, an artefact capable of reshaping reality.

Lagueen was once a great empire, its power built on the Crystal's ability to harvest knowledge and treasures from across time. Its downfall came when a traitorous acolyte tried to steal the artefact, triggering a cataclysm that drowned the city. Now, the PCs must decide whether to restore the Crystal to its place—potentially altering their own world—or use it to forge a new dimension entirely. The adventure introduces fresh mechanics, including new monsters, a god, clerical domains, spells, and traps. A new magic item and the detailed ruins of Lagueen provide extra depth. While the interior artwork occasionally feels mismatched with the text, the supplement still stands out for its ambition and quality. Atlas Games continues to push boundaries, cementing *Penumbra* as a leader in D20 supplements, even outpacing Wizards of the Coast in some areas.
