In a closely fought battle, the Philadelphia Phillies managed to secure a 2-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.

The game was a pitching duel, with both teams showcasing impressive performances on the mound. For the Braves, Bryce Elder put in a commendable effort, allowing only one run and three hits in seven innings. However, it was Cristopher Saฬnchez (11-5, 2.66) who stole the show for the Phillies, starting the game and leading the team to victory.

At the plate, Matt Olson shone for the Braves, recording three hits in the game. Kyle Schwarber, on the other hand, continued his impressive form, leading the National League in home runs (49) and RBIs (119). Schwarber's contributions included a key run in the eighth inning, thanks to an Alec Bohm sacrifice fly.

The Phillies' run in the eighth inning was set up by Bryce Harper's one-out single, with Schwarber hustling to third base. The inning ended on a pop out, but not before Schwarber had crossed the plate, securing the winning run for the Phillies.

The starting pitcher for the Braves for the third contest of the four-game set on Saturday night has not been announced. However, rookie Hurston Waldrep, who recently pitched 5 2/3 innings in a Braves game against the Phillies, might be among the starters used in the series.

The Phillies will be looking to consolidate their lead in the series when the third game gets underway. Jhoan Duran, who pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning for his eighth save of the season, will likely be a key player for the Braves, aiming to keep the Phillies' bats quiet.

Meanwhile, Ranger Suarez, who allowed 10 hits in the game but only gave up one run, will be a formidable opponent for the Braves. Orion Kerkering, who threw a scoreless eighth inning in the game, will also be a player to watch for the Phillies.

As the series continues, both teams will be looking to capitalise on their strengths and outmanoeuvre their opponents. The next game promises to be a thrilling contest between two evenly matched teams.
