September 6, 2025: Irish Women's Premier Division Delivers Exciting Results

The Irish Women's Premier Division served up a feast of football on September 6, 2025, with several thrilling matches taking centre stage.

In the clash between Sligo Rovers and Treaty United, Paula McGrory scored a goal for Sligo Rovers, but Emma Doherty's equalizer for Galway United in the 47th minute ensured the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Meanwhile, Galway United secured an impressive 2-1 win over Shelbourne, with Jamie Erikson and Emma Doherty scoring the goals for Galway, and Mackenzie Anthony netting one for Shelbourne.

Elsewhere, the match between Wexford and DLR Waves ended in a 0-0 draw, while Peamount United dominated Waterford, winning 5-0. Bohemians also secured a 2-0 victory over Cork City, thanks to goals in the 13th and 35th minutes.

The day's most significant result, however, came in the top-of-the-table clash between Athlone Town and Shamrock Rovers. Athlone Town extended their lead at the summit with a 2-0 home win, courtesy of Kelly Brady's goal in the first half and Roisin Molloy's strike before the break.

As for Athlone Town's upcoming fixtures, they will face Glasgow City FC in an Europa League qualifier on Wednesday. While the player who represented Athlone Town on September 6 cannot be definitively identified, key squad members around that time included Kelly Brady and Maddison Gibson, who notably scored in late August matches leading up to September fixtures.

In a separate match, second-placed Shelbourne suffered a dramatic 2-1 loss to Galway United, a result that will undoubtedly have implications for the title race. Despite early pressure in the second half, Shamrock Rovers were unable to get onto the scoreboard, continuing their struggle for form.

As the season reaches its climax, the Irish Women's Premier Division promises to deliver more exciting football action in the coming weeks.
