At Night | Pedro Pascal Lined Up for Lead Role in Todd Haynes' Postponed Romance Film
After a series of events that left the production in limbo, the highly-anticipated film "De Noche" by renowned director Todd Haynes is finally moving forward, with actor Pedro Pascal set to take the lead.
Initially, Joaquin Phoenix was slated to star in the film, but his unexpected departure from the project in 2024 halted production. Reports suggest that Phoenix did not show up to set for two consecutive weeks, ultimately leading to his departure just before filming was due to begin.
The film, set in the 1930s, follows a police officer who leaves 1930s Los Angeles behind for Mexico. Despite the initial delay, the production company, Killer Films, has announced that filming will commence in early 2026 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Pascal, known for his roles in Celine Song's "Materialists," Ari Aster's "Eddington," Matt Shakman's "Fantastic Four: The First Steps," and his Emmy-nominated performance in "The Last Of Us" season 2, is set to step into the lead role. The current plan is to film around Pascal's busy schedule, given his upcoming commitments to "The Mandalorian And Grogu" and "Avengers: Doomsday," both of which come with extensive press tours.
Danny Ramirez, who was previously attached as the younger lover in the film, remains part of the cast. Haynes is also reported to be reuniting with Mildred Pierce star Kate Winslet in a new HBO series, "Trust."
With Pascal on board and filming set to begin soon, it seems that "De Noche" is finally on its way to coming to life, much to the relief of fans who have been eagerly awaiting its release.
