Astana Prepares for Silk Way Star Grand Finale: Who's Behind the Crazy Visuals of the Megacontest

Astana is preparing for the grand finale of the first Asian vocal megaproject, Silk Way Star. The show is being held as part of an agreement between the Presidential TV and Radio Corporation and the Chinese media corporation China Media Group (CMG). A large team of Kazakh specialists is responsible for the visual aspect. Among them is the curator and stylist Anarbek Zhardemov, who told our website how the team is preparing hundreds of costumes for the contest.

The grand finale of Silk Way Star, Asia’s first major vocal competition, will take place in Astana on 22 November. The event marks a collaboration between Kazakhstan’s Presidential TV and Radio Corporation and China Media Group (CMG). Performers from 12 countries will compete in front of a global audience, with the winner decided by a mix of jury scores and public votes.

Preparations for the show have involved a team of around 40 people, including five stylists and renowned costume designer Anarbek Zhardemov. Together, they have created nearly 500 costumes for contestants, ballet dancers, judges, and hosts. The styling team describes this as their first international project on such a large scale.

The finale brings together talent from 12 nations, showcasing both artistic skill and cross-border collaboration. With a mix of professional judging and public participation, the competition will crown a new star while highlighting the scale of its production. The winner’s prize includes a platform to advance their career on the global stage.
