Assist in aiding Marie and numerous others
On September 13, 2025, the Catholic Burschenverein Pollenfeld - Seuversdorf - Weigersdorf, in collaboration with the Action Bone Marrow Donation Bavaria (AKB) foundation, is hosting a bone marrow donation drive. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the school gymnasium in Hauptstraße 4, Pollenfeld.
The drive is in support of the "Help Marie and Many Others" campaign, with 22-year-old Eichstätt Caritas employee Marie needing a stem cell transplant due to leukemia. The aim of the drive is to help individuals in need of a bone marrow transplant and to increase the number of bone marrow donors.
Individuals aged 17 to 45 can potentially become a future stem cell donor at the event on September 13. For those unable to attend, AKB offers an alternative: ordering a lifesaver kit for a cheek swab at home from their website (www.akb.de). Each kit costs 35 euros.
Monetary donations are also welcome for each new registration. The donations can be made to Stiftung Aktion Knochenmarkspende Bayern, with the reference "Marie Pollenfeld" at Kreissparkasse München Starnberg Ebersberg, IBAN: DE57 7025 0150 0022 3944 80.
In a press release, the Caritas association for the diocese of Eichstätt highlighted the importance of the drive. Klaus Nieberle, a recent stem cell donor from Caritas Eichstätt, described the process as well-organized and smooth. He hopes his donation can help the patient in need. A photo of Klaus Nieberle after his stem cell donation is available from the Caritas press office.
It's worth noting that AKB relies on donations as the state and health insurance cover only a small portion of the costs. The person being supported by Marie in the press release through a bone marrow donation is not explicitly named. However, the press release references support for "Marie Pollenfeld" herself via the Stiftung Aktion Knochenmarkspende Bayern.
Join us on September 13 to help make a difference in the life of someone in need. Your participation could potentially save a life.
