Assam rolls out subsidised dal, sugar, and salt for ration card holders from November 10

The Assam government is set to launch a new scheme offering subsidised masoor dal, sugar, and salt to ration card holders. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will officially kick off the initiative on November 10 at 10 am in Guwahati. The programme aims to provide essential food items at lower prices to eligible beneficiaries across the state.

The scheme will begin with a central launch at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati. In Kokrajhar, a district-level event will take place at M/S Kokrajhar Town Co-Operative Wholesale, attended by BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary and other officials.

For the first month, distribution will run from November 10 to 19 under 'Special Anna Sewa Din'. From December onwards, beneficiaries can collect their supplies from the 1st to the 10th of each month. Each ration card holder will receive 1 kg each of masoor dal, sugar, and salt monthly.

Prices for November and December 2025 have been fixed at Rs 69 for masoor dal, Rs 38 for sugar, and Rs 10 for salt. These will drop further from January to May 2026, with masoor dal priced at Rs 60, sugar at Rs 30, and salt remaining at Rs 10.

The scheme will operate through Fair Price Shops (FPS) across Assam. By offering key commodities at reduced rates, the government intends to improve food security for NFSA beneficiaries. Distribution will follow a fixed monthly schedule to ensure regular access to essential items.
