In an exciting development, Google has rolled out an AI-powered business-calling feature as part of its Google Search AI Mode. This new feature, known as the "Deep Search" feature, is designed to save time by conducting numerous searches and providing reasoning across various pieces of information.

The Deep Search feature enhances Google Search's AI Mode by introducing deep research capabilities. It utilizes the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, a sophisticated AI system that is effective at advanced reasoning, math, and coding queries. This model is now available to all Search users in the U.S.

Google has been actively enhancing its AI Mode in the past few months. Previous enhancements include a voice conversation feature and a shopping experience. The company has also upgraded AI Mode for AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers with the Gemini 2.5 Pro model.

To initiate the business-calling feature, users can search for phrases like "pet groomers near me" and select an option to "Have AI check pricing." The feature utilizes AI to call local businesses to gather information about pricing and availability. Users can access this information without phone interaction.

Google ensured that its AI identifies itself as a robot when making calls, in response to backlash over an earlier feature that imitated human speech. The AI announces itself at the beginning of calls, indicating it is an automated system calling from Google.

The company tested the feature starting in January with users in its Search Labs experiments. Enhanced limits for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers are included in the rollout. However, currently, there are no publicly detailed lists of specific U.S. companies using Google's new AI-powered call feature that collects business information on prices and availability.

The Deep Search feature is applicable for thorough research concerning jobs, hobbies, or educational pursuits. It is also beneficial for significant life decisions, such as purchasing a home or performing financial analyses. Subscribers can find the Gemini 2.5 Pro model in a drop-down menu within AI Mode.
