Arson at a Tenement House in Stade: €200,000 worth of destruction, emergency responders hurt due to resistance from the patients involved
In a series of events that unfolded across Germany, several investigations have been initiated by local police departments following incidents of resistance against law enforcement officers and damage to emergency vehicles and equipment.
In Berlin, a 25-year-old Irish woman is under investigation for resistance against police and insult during a pro-Palestinian demonstration. Simultaneously, investigations are ongoing for a police officer involved in the same demonstration for allegedly causing bodily harm. In Gelsenkirchen, a 51-year-old man is being investigated for violent resistance against police and municipal order enforcement personnel, causing injuries. Meanwhile, in Munich, a 28-year-old man is under investigation for resisting arrest, attempted robbery, bodily harm, and violent attack on police during a supermarket burglary. The respective local police departments, including the Berlin police, Gelsenkirchen police, and Munich police's Kommissariat 21, are leading these investigations.
Moving on to a separate incident in Buxtehude, a 43-year-old man resisted police and rescue service efforts to treat him yesterday evening. This incident did not involve the house fire in Stade's Sprehenweg. The man reportedly contaminated an emergency vehicle, damaged parts of the RTW equipment, and kicked a 28-year-old rescue service employee from Buxtehude. He also resisted police measures, spat at police officers, and injured a 33-year-old police officer on the leg during the incident. Investigations have been initiated against the man for resistance against law enforcement officers, assault on rescue service employees, and destruction of important equipment.
In a tragic turn of events, a fire occurred in a terraced house in Stade's Sprehenweg at approximately 05:20. Over 100 firefighters from several local fire brigades fought the fire, which engulfed the ground floor, upper floor, and attic upon their arrival. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, and paramedics were not required to intervene. The 47-year-old sole occupant of the house was not at home during the fire. The house was completely burned down and is now uninhabitable, with an estimated damage of around 200,000 euros.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by police officers and crime scene investigators. The incident did not involve the man from Buxtehude who resisted treatment efforts. The man, despite resisting, was eventually taken to the Stade Elbeklinikum for treatment.
The man from Buxtehude's incident did not involve any physical harm to others, but it serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by our emergency services in carrying out their duties. Similarly, the ongoing investigations highlight the importance of peaceful protests and respect for law enforcement officers.
The extinguishing work in Stade lasted until around 09:00, bringing an end to a difficult night for the emergency services and the affected community. The investigations into the causes of these events continue, with the hope that justice will be served and similar incidents can be prevented in the future.
