Arrests in the Last 24 Hours by BPOL NRW: Execution of Arrest Warrants by Federal Police

In the past 24 hours, the Federal Police in Aachen have executed two arrest warrants. One of the individuals apprehended was a 49-year-old Romanian transport driver, while the other was a 53-year-old Turkish man who was stopped for driving erratically on the A44.

The transport driver, who entered Germany via the A4 motorway on Monday, was taken into police custody in Aachen after a criminal complaint for driving under the influence. Upon investigation, it was found that he showed signs of alcohol intoxication and refused an alcohol test. He was subsequently sentenced to 34 days in prison or a fine of 1700,- EUR for this offense.

However, the imprisonment of the transport driver was averted due to the payment of the fine by his superior, who was contacted by phone. It is worth noting that the transport driver had an open arrest warrant for deliberate violation of the compulsory insurance law.

In a separate incident, the 53-year-old Turkish man was arrested for driving erratically. No information regarding his alcohol consumption was provided, and it was not stated whether he had an arrest warrant prior to his arrest.

The head of the Bundespoliziedirektion Sankt Augustin, Barbara Heuser, presides over the authority as of August 2025. Udo Peltzer, a leading police director in the region, retired at the end of August 2025.

In an unrelated case, an arrest warrant from the Public Prosecutor's Office in Chemnitz was found for another individual, who was subject to an arrest warrant for theft. It was clarified that the man's offense was not related to the theft for which an earlier suspect was arrested. A call to his girlfriend did not result in the fine being paid, unlike in the case of the transport driver.

These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws and the consequences of non-compliance. The Federal Police will continue to enforce these laws and apprehend individuals who break them.
