Arrests at Hamburg Airport Over Weekend Made by Federal Police under BPOL-HH
In a series of events, two individuals wanted by German public prosecutors were recently apprehended at Hamburg Airport.
First, on Friday, a 51-year-old Romanian national, who had been wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Augsburg since March 2025 for fraud, was found during air security screening. After paying the required 1,800 euros, he was then released from police custody.
The following day, on Saturday, a 27-year-old Bulgarian national was controlled by federal police forces at the same airport. This individual, who had been wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Bremen since April 2025 for driving without a license in two cases and for forgery of documents, was taken to the Holstenglacis detention center.
The Bulgarian national had reportedly contacted his mother-in-law in Bremen by phone, seeking help to pay a total of 5,273 euros, which included unpaid fines and case costs. However, his mother-in-law, initially assuring him that she could obtain the money, later informed him that she was unable to do so.
Regrettably, no publicly available information specifies a person in Bremen who was wanted by the public prosecutor's office for driving without a license and document forgery in July 2025, or where that person was ultimately arrested.
These arrests serve as a reminder of the global reach of the law, and the importance of individuals answering to their legal obligations. Further details regarding the ongoing cases and potential future proceedings will likely be announced by the respective public prosecutor's offices.
