Arrest number three in the fatal shooting incident at a Hamilton bus stop, claimed by a victim who was a student.

A tragic incident occurred in Hamilton on April 17, around 7:30 p.m., when a 21-year-old Mohawk College student named Harsimrat Randhawa was fatally shot near the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road.

The shooting was an exchange of gunfire between two groups, and at least seven people were initially believed to be involved. Harsimrat was waiting for a bus when she was struck by a stray bullet.

Two suspects have since been arrested and charged in connection with the crime. Jaiyden Jones, a 29-year-old, was arrested on Sept. 8 and appeared in a Hamilton court the same day. He has been charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder. Jerdaine Foster, 32, was arrested last month and charged with the same offences as Jaiyden Jones.

Obiesea Okafor, 26, was also arrested and is facing three counts of attempted murder. The person arrested alongside Jaiyden Jones and Jerdaine Foster on September 8 by the Hamilton police and charged with the murder of Harsimrat Randhawa and three attempted murders has not been named in the available sources.

Despite these arrests, investigators are still searching for other suspects involved in Randhawa's death. No new information about the motive behind the shooting has been provided, and no further details about the identity or arrest status of the remaining suspects have been released.

It is unclear if Foster and Okafor have legal representation at this time, and no court dates have been scheduled for them as of the time of this article's publication. The investigation into Randhawa's death is ongoing, and the Hamilton police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Harsimrat Randhawa was an international student from India, and her death has left the community mourning. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the senseless violence that can occur in our cities and the importance of working together to bring those responsible to justice.
