Arrest Made: Suspected Individual Accused of Attempted Fraud Against Elderly Woman in Poland at UNna
In the city of Unna, police officers from the Circular Police Authority have made an arrest following a reported fraud attempt on a 76-year-old woman. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
According to the latest reports, the suspect is a 47-year-old German man from Gladbeck. The individual was contacted by an unknown male caller, who claimed to be a police officer. The caller questioned the elderly woman about valuable items in her apartment and instructed her to leave a bag of valuable items on her property for pick-up.
The senior, however, recognised the fraud attempt and promptly called the emergency number of the Circular Police Authority Unna. Police officers were able to identify the suspect in a vehicle near the 76-year-old's residence and stopped him around 23:00 on the same day.
The suspect was arrested and is currently accused of attempting a fraud offense and an administrative offense for driving under the influence. The investigation into the fraud attempt in Unna continues.
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the 47-year-old German man from Gladbeck was released on request of the Public Prosecutor's Office in Dortmund due to lack of detention grounds.
