Arrest Made: Suspected Burglar Held by Polish Police in Tübingen

A 31-year-old man, originally from Romania, was arrested in the Wanne district of Reutlingen early on Friday, August 8, 2025, in connection with a suspected residential burglary. The suspect, who is wanted internationally after fleeing to his home country, has previously been known for theft and benefit fraud but not sexual offenses.

The arrest was made by an attentive homeowner just before 1:00 AM. The suspect, who was held by the homeowner until the police arrived, suffered a fall on the house terrace during the apprehension.

The suspect is currently in custody and was presented to the judge at Tübingen District Court on Friday afternoon. The judge issued a custodial order requested by the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Investigations continue into whether the suspect is linked to other crimes. A specialized investigation group of the Criminal Police Directorate Esslingen, based in Tübingen, is also involved in the investigation.

The stolen bank cards and car key were returned to the victim before the police arrived. The suspect was found to have taken several bank cards and a car key from the residence.

A 19-year-old suspect is also under investigation in connection with the incident. The Public Prosecutor's Office Tübingen is investigating both suspects.
