Arrest Made in Attempted Burglary Case (Esslingen)
On Monday evening, August 25, 2025, a 28-year-old man, a Kosovo citizen, was taken into custody by the Public Prosecutor's Office Stuttgart and the Esslingen Criminal Police Directorate, following a suspected attempted burglary in Mülbergerstraße, Reutlingen.
The incident, initially reported by a witness, unfolded at approximately 22:50. Two unknown men, partially masked, were seen acting suspiciously around a residential building in Mülbergerstraße. An inspection of the building revealed signs of forced entry on a cellar door and overturned furniture on an accessible balcony.
The suspect was apprehended after a chase that involved the use of pepper spray. However, the alleged accomplice managed to escape during the incident, and a manhunt has been launched, which has been unsuccessful so far.
The arrested suspect initially hid in bushes before fleeing from the officers. A subsequent search was conducted but was unsuccessful in locating the escapee. Several screwdrivers, a flashlight, and the suspect's mask were found during a search of the arrested suspect.
The suspect was taken to a police station and examined by emergency services for minor eye irritation. The 28-year-old was presented to the judge at Esslingen District Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Investigations continue, including into the possible accomplice of the suspect. The investigation is being led by a specialized investigation group of the Esslingen Criminal Police Directorate based in Tübingen.
