Houston Man Charged with Murder in 2018 Drive-By Shooting
Jeremiah Bryant, a resident of Houston, Texas, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on Clarke Springs Drive in August 2018. The shooting resulted in the death of Michael Lawson, a 46-year-old man who was walking through the neighborhood with his son at the time of the incident.
According to records from the Harris County District Clerk's Office and the Houston Police Department, Bryant was arrested on Thursday morning. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond. The trial date for Bryant is scheduled for October 14, 2024.
The shooting took place at approximately 1 a.m. on August 15, 2018. The vehicle that fired the shots approached Lawson and his son, who were walking on Clarke Springs Drive. At least one person inside the vehicle discharged their weapon, striking Lawson. The shooter or shooters then drove away from the scene.
Lawson was pronounced dead at the scene, and his son was not injured in the shooting. The shooting did not occur inside a building or structure, and no other suspects or vehicles have been identified in the shooting. The incident took place near South Sam Houston Parkway West.
The Houston Police Department confirmed Bryant's arrest in the case, and court records show that he has been charged with murder. Bryant is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
