Army of India and Bisleri International team up to create eco-friendly zone in Sikkim
In a significant move towards sustainable development, Bisleri International, a leading premium beverage company in India with over 50 years of legacy, has announced the expansion of its flagship program, Bottles for Change (BFC), to Sikkim. The program aims to contribute to plastic waste management and promote sustainable practices for a cleaner and greener future.
The BFC program, which follows a stringent process of 114 quality tests and a 10-stage purification, will be implemented in collaboration with the Gangtok Military Station. This development is a result of a Letter of Association (LoA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Bisleri International, Sikkim's Urban Development Department, and the Indian Army.
The Gangtok Military Station, nestled in the pristine Himalayan backdrop, is an important hub of strategic and community significance. The establishment of the BFC program at this location will serve as a model for sustainable development and conservation in the region.
Under the BFC program, all post-consumer plastic from the station will be sent for recycling, marking a significant step towards plastic waste management. The program also aims to create awareness and drive behavioural change towards sustainable practices.
Mr. Angelo George, CEO of Bisleri International, expressed his commitment to supporting the Army's efforts in developing the Eco Zone. He commented, "We are delighted to collaborate with the Indian Army and the Sikkim Urban Development Department for this noble initiative. Our partnership is a testament to our core values of yielding growth and embedding sustainability by being responsible in all aspects of our business."
Bisleri International, the maker of the country's largest-selling packaged drinking water, offers a range of beverages. These include Bisleri packaged drinking water, Vedica Himalayan Spring Water, carbonated drinks such as Bisleri Limonata, Bisleri Rev, Bisleri Spyci Jeera, Bisleri Pop, and Bisleri Soda.
