Arms manufacturing facility seized in Danao
In a significant move towards promoting safety and peace, the community of Danao took a step forward by surrendering weapons-making equipment on Friday, August 28, 2025, at Sitio Patag, Barangay Manlayag. This initiative was facilitated by the barangay officials of Manlayag and handed over to the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB 7) from the Bogo City Police Station.
The surrender was led by Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, the head of Police Regional Office 7, as part of the "Bakal ng Pagbabago" program. The surrendered equipment included one electric push drill, two manual air compressors, five bench vises, one cross vise, 54 steel files, two revolver patterns, three cylinder patterns, three hacksaws, 30 hacksaw blades, and three manual sanders.
Brigadier General Maranan expressed his joy and appreciation for the commitment towards peace and improvement in safety and peace. He stated that this act shows that real change begins when communities choose safety over violence. Every tool surrendered, he added, brings them closer to peace.
The barangay officials of Manlayag welcomed this initiative, and Maranan encouraged the public that PRO 7 will continue to collaborate with local government units and communities in the effort to secure loose firearms. The surrendered tools are being documented by the 701st Maneuver Company of RMFB7.
The surrender marked a continuation of community peace efforts and the absence of authorities who were previously engaged in illegal weapons manufacturing. Maranan, along with Police Brigadier General Valeriano de Leon, who initiated the "Bakal ng Pagbabago" program, called on the residents of Danao to turn in their weapons. The program aims to promote safety and peace in the community.
It is important to note that the surrendered tools are likely not included in the earlier list of surrendered weapons and equipment. This indicates that the community's efforts towards peace are ongoing and comprehensive. Maranan's call for safety over violence resonates with the people of Danao, as they strive for a safer and more peaceful future.
