Rheinmetall Teams Up with BVB
In March, Rheinmetall secured a billion-dollar contract for arms from the German government. The company, known for its production of tanks and artillery shells, is also active as an automotive supplier. The deal includes arms deliveries to Ukraine.
Borussia Dortmund and Rheinmetall - this new partnership has caused quite a stir, prompting intense discussions between the club's management team, led by CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke (64) and managing director Carsten Cramer (55), with top politicians like Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (64), internal committees, and even fan representatives. While the club managers received positive responses, they are aware that this partnership is uncharted territory and have anticipated other reactions.
Rheinmetall will be one of the larger sponsors of BVB, and the company believes it can gain more than just an image boost from the new advertising environment.
A significant shift for BVB - the club takes Chancellor Olaf Scholz's (65) words seriously and has now entered the military and arms industry.
