Fashion Icon Giorgio Armani Laid to Rest in Rivalta, Italy

Giorgio Armani, the renowned Italian fashion designer, was laid to rest on Monday afternoon in the small medieval village of Rivalta, located approximately 62 miles south of Milan. The private funeral service was held in the picturesque Church of San Martino, as per Armani's own wishes.

Armani, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 91, was a prominent figure in the world of fashion. His headquarters, the Armani Teatro, is situated in Milan's former industrial district. Thousands of people visited the chapel of rest at the Armani Teatro on Sunday until 6pm GMT to pay their respects.

The funeral service was a private event, attended by close friends and family. Among the personalities in attendance were former prime minister Matteo Renzi, composer Ludovico Einaudi, and Napoli FC president Aurelio De Laurentiis.

The location of Armani's funeral holds a personal significance, as his mother is buried in the same town. The designer frequently visited the small commune and the surrounding area will be closed for security reasons and to ensure the confidentiality of the funeral.

In a show of respect, the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, declared a day of mourning in the city on Monday. Imposing wreaths were placed at the entrance to the room where Armani's coffin rests at the Armani Teatro.

The small church of San Martino, where the funeral took place, is nestled in the heart of Rivalta. This quaint village, with its rich history, provided a fitting backdrop for the farewell ceremony of a man who made a significant impact on the fashion industry.

Armani's legacy will continue to inspire generations of designers, as he revolutionised the way we perceive fashion and luxury. His contributions to the world of fashion will not be forgotten.
