Aristocrat Interactive shuts Malta office, exits white-label iGaming by June 2023

Aristocrat Interactive is closing its Malta operations by the end of June 2023. The move will result in around 120 job losses as the company exits the white-label iGaming market. A LinkedIn announcement by AML Manager Ambra Battiston confirmed the shutdown earlier this week. The closure marks the end of Aristocrat Interactive's white-label iGaming business. The company has decided to leave this segment entirely, focusing instead on higher-growth opportunities. Employees affected by the shutdown will be relocated closer to the firm's main headquarters.

Malta has long been a hub for white-label operators, thanks to the Malta Gaming Authority's licensing process. However, Aristocrat's departure reflects a broader industry trend. More companies are now shifting away from white-label services to develop their own proprietary platforms and concentrate on core markets. No official figures exist on how many similar closures have occurred in the iGaming sector since 2020. The decision aligns with Aristocrat's strategy to streamline operations and prioritise areas with stronger growth potential.

The shutdown will take full effect by 30 June 2023. Around 120 staff members will be made redundant as Aristocrat Interactive withdraws from Malta. The company's future efforts will centre on expanding its own gaming platforms and key markets instead.
