Apple Intends to Enhance Its Offerings with Exclusive Podcast Production: Source

In the ever-evolving world of media, two tech giants are making waves in the podcast industry: Apple and Spotify.

Apple, known for its meticulous approach to content, is reportedly planning to create original podcasts to challenge streaming rivals like Spotify. According to Bloomberg, the tech giant has shown interest in competing in the podcast industry, aiming to secure exclusive rights to podcasts.

On the other hand, Spotify is exploring ways to serve its podcast offerings to its consumer base, hinting at a potential shift in strategy. The company has recently made significant moves in the podcast realm, acquiring Gimlet, Parcast, and Anchor.

Apple, too, is making strides in the podcast sector. It is launching a standalone Podcasts app for desktop and planning to pursue more explicit deals for its podcasts, according to a report. However, expecting groundbreaking content from Apple's podcasts might be premature, given its rumored television series template.

Apple's top brass, including Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of internet software and services, have not revealed a clear strategy for its podcast originals yet. Despite this, Cue suggested that Apple's podcast offerings may not be as tame as some might expect.

Meanwhile, Apple's CEO Tim Cook is reportedly involved in regulating explicit content on Apple TV+, which, according to some members of Apple's team in Los Angeles, has been referred to as "expensive NBC." At least one of the series on Apple TV+, The Morning Show, is alleged to deal with adult topics.

However, Eddy Cue disputed the rumor about Apple TV+ content, stating that the nature of The Morning Show was not as explicit as some might imagine. Apple's podcast offerings, like its streaming services, may not be any good, according to some articles, but the company remains undeterred, continuing to innovate and compete in the podcast industry.

Despite the lack of information about the media companies with which Apple collaborates to acquire exclusive podcast rights, one thing is clear: the podcast industry is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
