António José Seguro launches bold Portugal presidency bid with ‘new political culture’

António José Seguro has launched a bid for Portugal’s presidency with a promise of 'new political culture'. The 61-year-old, born in Penamacor, is now travelling across Portugal as part of his Listening to Portugal campaign. His run comes without waiting for the backing of the Socialist Party (PS).

Seguro was born on March 11, 1962, in the small town of Penamacor. As a child, he spent hours playing with spinning tops, marbles, and a homemade wooden football game. Later, he earned a degree in International Relations and a master’s in Political Science.

Seguro’s presidential campaign centres on direct dialogue with citizens. The election will take place on January 18, with his platform built on reform and a fresh approach to politics. His tour continues as he seeks to connect with voters across Portugal.
