Antonio Costa, Head of the European Council, embarks on a tour that includes a stop in Romania.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, are set to embark on separate tours aimed at addressing security challenges originating from Russia and Belarus, and strengthening the EU's solidarity and defense.

Von der Leyen's tour will begin with a visit to Romania on September 1, followed by a trip to the Black Sea port city of Constanta. The visit is scheduled to last from September 1 to 19. During her time in Romania, von der Leyen is set to meet with President Nicusor Dan and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

Meanwhile, Costa's tour, known as the "Tour des Capitales," will see him meeting with EU leaders across the continent. His tour will begin with meetings in Slovenia, Croatia, and Austria, followed by a visit to Romania on September 4. Costa will meet with President Dan during his visit.

Costa's tour is aimed at shaping the bloc's agenda ahead of key European summits later this year. He believes that unity is the greatest strength in today's unpredictable world. Costa's role as president of the European Council is to listen, understand, and build consensus among leaders.

Von der Leyen's visit to Romania is part of a tour focused on the EU's eastern frontline states. She will also represent the EU at high-level international gatherings, including the EU-CELAC Summit in Colombia and the EU-African Union Summit in Angola.

Both leaders' tours are a testament to the EU's commitment to addressing security challenges and strengthening its solidarity and defense in an increasingly unpredictable world.
