The picturesque town of Perleberg in the Prignitz district is gearing up for a grand celebration as the 18th Brandenburg Day event is set to commence on Friday evening. This much-anticipated event, slated to last over the weekend, will attract up to 80,000 visitors, according to estimates.
Mayor Axel Schmidt of Perleberg made the announcement in Potsdam, revealing that the event will boast an impressive lineup of 400 artists performing on eight stages, as well as 300 market stalls and a diverse array of interactive activities.
The Brandenburg Day event in Perleberg will showcase attractions from all corners of Brandenburg, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to experience the rich culture and heritage of the region. Exhibitors will focus on topics such as education, environment, and employment, ensuring a wide range of engaging experiences for all.
The inaugural Brandenburg Day was held in Cottbus in 1995, and since then, it has grown into a significant cultural event in Brandenburg. This year's event promises to be no exception, with highlights including performances by the band Karat and the Brandenburg Youth Jazz Orchestra.
On Saturday, Minister President Dietmar Woidke (SPD) will officially open the Brandenburg Day celebrations. The official opening ceremony will see a designated person formally declaring: "Herewith the BRANDENBURG-TAG 2025 in Perleberg is opened," followed by the release of red balloons into the sky.
The closing concert "FinaLotte" of the Lotte Lehmann Academy will take place at the Great Market, while a party with live acts on the Hagen stage at the Great Market will round off the weekend's festivities.
