In the heart of New York City, designer Merve Kahraman has drawn inspiration from the city's transition into fall for her latest lighting collection. Named 'Cabinet of Curiosities,' this collection invites us to embrace the weird and the wonderful, to stay playful, and to shop with the spirit of a child who believes their decor might come to life.

Merve Kahraman, an Istanbul-born designer who honed her skills in Milan and London, has crafted a collection that is as enchanting as Central Park's turning leaves and strange, beautiful botanicals. The collection consists of a chandelier, sconce, pendant, and two table lamps, each piece designed to be a living character with its own personality and purpose.

The Floral Glass Chandelier, a standout piece in the collection, radiates soft, colored light like petals unfolding. It is designed to resemble Central Park's turning leaves and features a mix of honey yellow, forest green, terracotta, and gray-blue with polished brass. Merve recommends placing this chandelier above a wooden dining table surrounded by patterned chairs, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Another intriguing piece is the mushroom-inspired table lamp. Its cream-colored forms ripple across the surface when lit, taking the form of a magical mushroom with a ribbed base like gills and glass mimicking the irregularities of fungi. This lamp, along with the other pieces in the collection, features a combination of city-like materials with earthy materials like rattan.

The 'Cabinet of Curiosities' collection also includes a pendant that flirts with surrealism. Measuring 12 inches wide, it is bold enough to anchor a dining table and can serve as kitchen lighting. This pendant, like the rest of the collection, encourages us to reactivate our curiosity towards life and choose each home decor piece with the same enthusiasm as children do.

Merve Kahraman's inspiration for this collection came from the book "Cabinet of Natural Curiosities" by Albertus Seba. She advises focusing on what one genuinely enjoys seeing every day in their space, rather than following interior design trends. This collection, with its fall color palette including bordeaux and cream, is a testament to Merve's advice, creating a space that is uniquely yours.

The 'Cabinet of Curiosities' lighting collection is now available at Anthropologie, inviting us to step into a world of wonder and magic.
