The International Gordion Archeofilm Festival is set to return for its second edition, taking place in Ankara and Polatlı from September 24 to 27. This year's festival promises to be a cultural extravaganza, attracting submissions from 102 countries and showcasing a diverse range of films.

The festival, organised by the Gordion Foundation and supported by the Culture and Tourism Ministry's Directorate General of Cinema, aims to promote Gordion, Ankara's first UNESCO World Heritage Site. The screenings will take place at the Millet Library cultural halls in Ankara.

The preliminary jury worked tirelessly to select the finalists for the festival, which features 12 films in the professional category and 10 in the student category. Notable films in the professional category include "Zerzevan's Mysterious History" (Kamer İncedursun), "Oya" (Sevinç Baloğlu), and "Kahin" (Şükrü Gürsoy) from Turkey, as well as international finalists such as Japan's "The Journey" (Kazuya Isobe), Italy's "Gargano Sacro" (Lorenzo Scaraggi), and Iran's "Wind's Heritage" (Nasim Soheili).

In the student category, standout films include "Altay" (Pelin Gergin), "Kışyarı" (Hamit Başar Yıldırım), and "Gri Ankara" (Serkan Işık/ Emre Balcı) from Turkey. Notable student category films also come from Tunisia and India.

The main jury for the festival consists of figures such as Derviş Zaim, Nihan Gider Işıkman, and Andreas Treske. Neslihan Semerci, Hayri Çölaşan, and Emel Uzun Avcı will judge the student films.

Kadim Koç, Chairman of the Gordion Foundation, made a statement about the festival, expressing his excitement and anticipation for the event. He emphasised the festival's aim to become a long-term cultural tradition.

The festival concludes on September 27 at Gordion Ancient City with an award ceremony and cultural events. The main prize winner in the "Professional" category has not been publicly disclosed yet.

The International Gordion Archeofilm Festival is set to be a celebration of film and culture, showcasing the best of international and Turkish cinema while promoting Gordion as a significant cultural heritage site.
