Volunteer Engagement Honoured in Obertraubling
In the small Bavarian town of Obertraubling, several residents have been recognised for their exceptional volunteer work in various fields. Among them are Karl Span, Sieglinde Baumann, and Markus Kellner, who were awarded the Bavarian Minister President's honorary badge for their outstanding contributions.
Karl Span, a long-standing member of the Obertraubling sports club since 1968, has held numerous positions within the club. He served as the deputy head of the handball department and the 2nd chairman of the main association from 1981 to 1997. Since 2014, he has been the head of the handball department, playing a significant role in organising and executing numerous events and festivals. Additionally, Karl Span coached various handball teams, including the women's team that was promoted to the Landesliga in 2014.
Sieglinde Baumann, on the other hand, has been a valued member of the St. Michael Church Administration Eitlbrunn since 1993. She has contributed significantly to the proper management of the church's finances, ensuring its smooth operations.
Markus Kellner's volunteer work is diverse and extensive. He has been engaged in the filial church St. Johannes Baptist of the parish Wolkering-Gebelkofen since 1998, taking care of all matters related to the church. Markus is responsible for the scheduling and training of altar servers, preparing young server candidates for their duties, and planning various leisure activities, including the annual summer camp.
In addition to his church work, Markus Kellner is also the founder and leader of the choir KlangWoGe, which he established in 2002. He is also the sole organist at the filial church for many years. Furthermore, Markus has been elected as the secretary and treasurer of the OGV Gebelkofen in 2003.
County Councilor Tanja Schweiger thanked the citizens for their engagement in various fields at the municipal or county level. Other residents who have been honoured for their volunteer work include Hermann Achmann, Soleil Voelkl, Erna Ellmann, Eva and Nico Kroseberg, Gabriela Seitz, Rolf and Hansjuergen Kroseberg, Josef Froschhammer, Erich Lichtenegger, Johann Lehner, Josef Alzinger, Wilhelm Eisenbeis, and Martin Soetz, who received Bavarian Volunteer Cards or certificates.
Thomas Hengl, Nico Schiegl, and Markus Kellner were also recognised for their engagement as wasp and hornet commissioners or beaver advisor. Ulrich Brill and Alfred Loritz received certificates for their engagement as nature conservation wardens.
These individuals' dedication and hard work serve as an inspiration to the community of Obertraubling, highlighting the importance of volunteerism in maintaining the vibrancy and cohesion of the town.
