Amazon Autos Expands to Used and Certified Pre-Owned Hyundai Vehicles

In a move to revolutionize the automotive retail market, Amazon Autos, the online car buying platform of e-commerce giant Amazon, has announced the addition of used and certified pre-owned (CPO) Hyundai Motor America vehicles to its platform.

The expansion is met with high levels of interest from U.S. Hyundai dealers, with a bottleneck in onboarding new dealer sales partners due to the overwhelming response. The managing partner of Premier Hyundai in Moreno Valley, California, Weslie Metcalf, has expressed interest in participating in the Amazon Autos platform.

Amazon Autos was launched last December in partnership with Hyundai, allowing customers to purchase a new vehicle online and arrange for pickup at a local dealer of their choice. The platform offers a seamless e-commerce experience with transparent pricing and no hidden fees, making car buying more accessible and convenient.

The addition of used and CPO vehicles to the Amazon Autos marketplace allows dealers to sell their non-Hyundai inventory, expanding customer buying choices to include vehicles from Ford, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, and other brands. All vehicles offered for sale on Amazon Autos will be limited to a 75-mile radius of the customer's location.

Amazon Autos vets Hyundai dealers to ensure a good car buying experience. Dealers on the platform are held to high standards in their selling practices and treatment of customers. Shoppers can read reviews of dealers before deciding on a pickup location, ensuring a positive experience.

The platform also provides comprehensive information for each listing, including vehicle history reports. Amazon Autos now offers "acceptance test drives," allowing prospective buyers to test drive a vehicle before they sign the final purchase paperwork at a Hyundai dealer.

Car buying satisfaction reached a record high in 2024, driven by more transparent vehicle pricing and improved digital tools, according to Cox Automotive. The Cox Automotive forecast suggests that a seamless, omnichannel car buying experience is essential for success in today's automotive retail market.

The first online sales of used Hyundai models will be in the Los Angeles area, with plans to expand to other U.S. cities in the coming months. All used vehicles sold via Amazon Autos will come with a three-day, 300-mile return policy and a minimum 30-day, 1,000-mile limited warranty, providing peace of mind for customers.

With the addition of used and CPO vehicles, Amazon Autos is set to redefine the car buying experience, offering a more accessible, convenient, and transparent way to purchase vehicles online.
