The 2025 World Championship of Amateur Poker (WCOAP) came to a thrilling conclusion at Nottingham's Dusk Till Dawn, with Peter McCusker emerging victorious in the Main Event.

McCusker, a recreational player from Donegal, Ireland, topped a field of 475 entrants to take home the Amateur Poker Association & Tour's (APAT) World Championship bracelet and a £13,000 prize. He faced off against Welsh poker player Jonathan Rees heads-up, with McCusker ultimately defeating Rees in a two-hour battle, earning him the tongue-in-cheek nickname of the "Donegal Destroyer."

Rees, who took the silver medal and £8,500, gave a commendable performance, finishing as the runner-up in the Main Event.

The week began with the Team Event, with England coming out as the winners. All four members of Team England received gold medals and winners bracelets for their efforts. The biggest group win during the week was achieved by Team Bald, with several bracelet winners.

The festival featured 22 events in total on the tournament schedule. Andrew O'Neil kicked things off by taking down the PLO Championship, while Daniel Williams claimed the 6-Max Championship. In addition to Texas Hold'em, there were Pot Limit Omaha Events, stud games, mixed games, and an international team event.

James Buck took down the TORSE Championship, adding another title to the diverse list of winners. The week also saw the elimination of notable players such as Nick Bowyer in 6th place for £2,800 and Gary Colclough in 7th place for £2,400.

This was the tour's 18th full season, with APAT having been in existence since 2006 and approaching its 20th anniversary. The WCOAP continues to be a significant event on the poker calendar, attracting amateur players from around the world.

As the dust settles on the 2025 WCOAP, the poker community eagerly awaits the next instalment of this exciting tournament series.
