New Monochrome Editions of ALTO's ART 01 Watch Unveiled

ALTO, the watch brand launched by Thibaud Guittard last spring, has announced the release of the Monochrome editions of their inaugural watch model, the ART 01.

The ART 01, which gained attention in a crowded market upon its release last May, is now available in black and gray Monochrome editions. These new editions maintain the same 41mm case size and geometric dial as the original release, but with a few notable changes.

The new Monochrome editions use bead-blasted lacquered brass for the dial, which enhances the sapphire crystal's effect. Each edition is paired with a matching FKM rubber strap to complete the monochromatic look. The cases are DLC-coated titanium, available in either gray or black with a bead-blasting effect.

The Cal. A01 automatic movement in the ART 01 Monochrome watches is a micro-rotor caliber made by Le Cercle des Horlogers and overseen by Nussbaum. This movement features a seconds hand that ticks counter-clockwise, a titanium mainplate, and a 4-Hz frequency with a 48-hour power reserve. The movement can be viewed through a caseback window, which, like the dial crystal, has been given a faceted approach.

The ART 01 watch design draws inspiration from various sources, including Olafur Eliasson, Giorgetto Guigiaro, Luca Bassani, and '70s wedge-shaped concept cars. The watch features an octagonal case and bezel, similar to AP's Royal Oak, but extends the shape to the dial as well.

The ART 01 Monochrome Editions are limited to 20 pieces each and are available for inquiry on ALTO's website. Each edition is priced at €25,500 (~$26,637).

Despite extensive searches, the person who stood alongside Thibaud Guittard in the development of the new watch model ALTO ART 01 Monochrome remains unidentified. Regardless, the new Monochrome editions of the ART 01 are sure to capture the attention of watch enthusiasts once again.
