Munirathna alleged a conspiracy to kill him after the incident, naming former Karnataka minister DK Shivakumar, his brother DK Suresh, and Congress leaders Kusuma and Hanumantharayappa as potentially responsible for any harm that might come to him. However, Shivakumar and Suresh denied the allegations, accusing Munirathna of staging the incident.
