Altercations at the Werder's bicycle track...
Saturday afternoon saw a unique spectacle in Bremen as around 600 SV Werder Bremen supporters embarked on a bicycle procession from Unisee towards the Weser Stadium, but the event took an unexpected turn.
The procession, which began at approximately 12:30 PM, initially broke through a police barrier at Stern. However, as the group approached the Gustav-Deetjen Tunnel at the main station, law enforcement officers halted the procession.
Some members of the group tried to break through a police chain at the main station, leading to the use of force by the officers. A minor traffic accident occurred between a cyclist from the group and a tram in the area of the Sielwall crossing, and several people attacked the tram driver after he exited, causing him minor injuries.
The Bremen Police has initiated investigations for dangerous bodily harm and insult in relation to these incidents. The cyclist who hit the window of the tram is believed to be one of the individuals involved in the altercation.
The Bremen Police's official website is http://www.polizei.bremen.de, and the Press Office can be contacted for inquiries. Nils Matthiesen is the contact person from the Press Office, and his telephone number is 0421 361-12114.
The Bremen Police's consultation website is http://www.polizei-beratung.de for those seeking more information or wishing to voice concerns.
Further evaluations are ongoing in the investigations, and no information regarding the specific incidents involving the SV Werder Bremen supporters has been provided by the Bremen Police. It is also unclear which organizations outside of Bremen were involved in the security for the first home game against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
Reports suggest that Bremen ultras insulted police officers who had come from Bavaria to support the operation.
The Bremen Police did not provide any further comment on the incidents, but they emphasise the importance of maintaining public safety and order during such events. The public is encouraged to adhere to agreed routes and to respect law enforcement officers and other members of the community.
